Home Information Packs "suspended"
The new coalition government has announced that as of midnight on 21 May 2010, the requirement for home sellers to provide home information packs (HIP) to the buyer is to be suspended.
This move will be welcomed by many in the legal profession who saw the HIP as a contributory factor to the downturn in the property market.
The government have confirmed that HIPs will be formally abolished by primary legislation later in the year.
